Increase Line Height in Novel Writer

I recently started to use the NovelWriter app under Linux, and I am quite impressed by it’s feature set. It has a bit of a learning curve here and there, but that is well invested time, if you ask me. Anyway, there is one thing that I really missed, and that is adjustible line height. Working for hours on a text with 1.0 line height can be challenging. There are several threats about this on the projects GitHub page, but the answer is always the same – currently there is no way to change it.

Luckily, I came across this workaround. In short it is about modifying the line height of the font itself by 50% (or whatever you prefer). I tried it myself and so far it works really well. If there are any downsides, I haven’t experienced them yet. Sure, you can’t adjust it easily. It is hard-coded. And I am not sure how it would scale if you increase the font size a lot. Still, it is a huge improvement.
